The Morris Canal Sailing Club

June 19, 2013

Rich and a few of the other guys at the marina have been talking about getting some smaller boats for racing since last summer. So when a couple of friends picked up a few old Sunfish recently, the Morris Canal Sailing Club was born. Named after the canal the marina is on, the MCSC has been a lot of fun to watch and Rich is out there zipping around on these little boats whenever he has a chance. I’ve never seen him look so happy.

One of these days, I might just take one out myself. These are the boats that all the kids learn on so they’re supposed to be great for beginners like me. I was a bit dubious at first, but three of the guys fell in the water the weekend before last, so I figure at least I won’t be the first!

Looks like so much fun, (except for the falling in part……)

Yeah, the falling in part is a bit off putting! But it seems to go with the territory…

    So much fun!
We have one, here to use. It would be great to find a second, for some racing fun!

Oh??? That could be lots of fun this summer, Dierky! I think all the ones around here came from Craigslist…

fun! brings back some fond—and [ahem] distant—memories of growing up in rhode island.

Leslie, I didn’t know you grew up in Rhode Island. Did you have a Sunfish?? We still have to get you and John out for a sail!
